Kitesurfing in Australia

Adelaide is normally not what comes to mind at first when you think Australian kitesurf. But as with most coastline around the world, unless it’s in the doldrums, you’ll get wind at some point. And if there’s wind, there’s kitesurfing possible.

Brisbane is the capital of Queensland. A pleasant city on Australia’s West coast with a good quality of life to boast. The surf is good and the wind season is long. Furthermore you have Gold Coast in the South and Sunshine Coast in the North. With cities named like this, how can you go wrong!?

Everyone agrees that Ossie’s West coast is the place to be for the summer. This is where the best kitesurfing takes place on this continent. But if you happen to spend time in and around Melbourne, it definitely doesn’t have to mean kite down-time. The wind is not super reliable but you can get varied riding, and St Kilda is right in town. Just don’t forget your wetsuit.

Everyone agrees that Ossie’s West coast is the place to be for the summer. This is where the best kitesurfing takes place on this continent. The riding covers anything from flat lagoons to challenging wave spots and everything in-between. The wind is strong and the weather is warm.

Sydney is a playground for surfers and businessmen alike. Not really a kitesurf destination, but if you happen to spend some time here and need your fix it’s certainly doable in the summer months.
